Granite Panther Engineer Limited’s Managing Director James Simpson graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2005 with a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering with Materials (2:1).
Upon graduation, James joined AMEC as a Graduate Piping Engineer, completing a four year graduate scheme as part of a six year spell with the company. During this time, he worked on a number of North Sea topsides projects ranging from minor modification projects to major brownfield modifications and greenfield developments, gaining extensive experience both onshore and offshore.
After leaving AMEC and a spell at Wood Group PSN as Senior Piping Engineer, he then joined Hatch Associates in Perth, Australia, and spent two years working on the Gorgon LNG project, one of the largest resources projects in the world, as a Piping/Project Engineer.
James’s experience includes all aspects of discipline engineering (gained within the Piping discipline), including conceptual design, site survey, detailed design, checking and approval of design drawings and engineering documents, production of workpacks, specification of materials and procurement. He also has extensive offshore experience, having provided construction support on a number of major offshore construction projects. His project engineering experience includes project kick-off and planning, co-ordination of vendors and contractors, cost control and reporting and review of contractor and vendor documentation.
In 2014 James set up Granite Panther Engineering Limited to provide professional engineering services to the oil and gas industry.
